Memory Care Unit

The Laurels of Mt. Vernon has developed an Alzheimer’s/Dementia Special Care Unit for people with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia related disorders. This specialized unit enables guests to reach and maintain their highest possible level of independence through daily living activities including: bathing, dressing, grooming, and eating. We provide a caring, personalized, yet structured environment which features:

  • 24-hour licensed nursing staff trained to work with Alzheimer's disease and dementia related disorders
  • Low stimulus environment
  • Specialized activities 7 days a week
  • Family education, counseling, and support
  • Management of behavioral concerns

Rehabilitation Goals

Our guests can benefit from additional inpatient days following hospitalization to allow general recovery and therapy services. Our interdisciplinary team designs an effective planning, treatment and monitoring approach with the following goals in mind:

  • Improving Range of Motion and Mobility
  • Developing Endurance
  • Increasing Functional Independence
